2nd November 2014, A get together of a few pals went badly wrong when an argument broke out. There was a woman present in the flat, who had stripped off, the men then taking it in turns to wear her thong.
Raymond Bell, aged 35, attacked 36-year-old David Black, at Bell's flat in Rutherglen, near Glasgow, he beat him with a table leg, and then stamped on him. David's suffered severe brain injuries. After leaving Mr black for dead in the flat, Bell fled to Blackpool before being tracked down by police.
5th November 2014, after concerned friends raised the alarm council officers visited Bell's flat. Mr Black was found in a pool of blood. and, as he had been lying unable to move for so long he had a pressure sore.
David was left needing round the clock care, and was transferred to a hospice in East Kilbride.
2015, Bell was found guilty and sentenced to nine years for the attempted murder of David Black.
27th October 2019, Mr Black sadly died at the Hospice from pneumonia following the traumatic brain injury received during the attack in 2014.
Wednesday 26th January 2022, Raymond Bell, denied murder, but was found guilty by a jury. Following the guilty verdict, the judge, Lord Arthurson agreed to quash Bell's original conviction for attempted murder since both stemmed from the same incident.
