24th December 2015, Gergana Prodanova and Kostadin Kostov had three children together, but Ms Prodonova left them in Bulgaria and moved to the UK to get away from Kostov and his controlling violence, as well as to earn some money, pretty much any money the family had was to buy alcohol for Kostov.
February 2016, Kostov also left Bulgaria and followed his ex-partner to Exeter. Gergana had started a new relationship, and got work as a waitress in Exeter.
Kostov became very angry with ex-partner Gergana Prodanova after she started a relationship with fellow Bulgarian Tihomir Todorov.
7th August 2016, After murdering the mother of his children he squeezed her naked body into a suitcase and dragged it through Exeter city centre in the middle of the night.
He was caught on CCTV dragging the case before then dumping it on a railway embankment off Blackall Road.

16th August 2016, A network Rail worker, noticed a foul smell, and then found the suitcase close to the rail track and police were called.
The body was so badly decomposed a post-mortum could not establish if death was due to strangulation or suffocation.
After his arrest the police, while searching his internet history, discovered that after the murder, Kostov searched 'how long would it take for a human corpse to decompose?' on the internet
19th May 2017, at Exeter crown Court Kostov is found guilty and sentenced to life with a minimum term of 129-[years.
Kostov had pleaded not guilty to the murder of Gergana, stating he had no idea where she went, but the jury took just over an hour to find him guilty of murder.
He is eligible to apply for parole in May 2036.
