Background. John Cole was originally from Rugby in Warwickshire, he had previous convictions for robbery and violence. He was allegedly a previous member of the far right racist group, 'The national Front'.
Angharad Williamson, originally from Essex attended private school. She met Logan's father at a party in 2015, the relationship did not last. She would later meet John Cole in a pub in Bridgend.
Logan Mwangoi lived with his mum, Angharad, his step father john Cole, in Sarn, Bridgend, Wales.
April 2019, Logan's biological father had been denied contact with his son since Williamson & Cole had got together.
2020, aged just 4-years-old, Logan Mwangi came to the attention of medical services who were concerned by a broken arm, they alerted safeguarding authorities. A social worker was allocated to Logan's case. He was put on the Child Protection Register, but was removed a month before his death,
John Cole had a known violent history, this was known to social services as was the troubled, violent past of the teenager. A foster family that the Mulligan stayed with later told police that he had threatened to kill Logan.
December 2020, Logan was checked on by a social worker, but wasn't seen because the family said he had Covid.
Covid restrictions amplified the pressures on families and made it harder for social workers to make checks.
June 2021, Logan is removed from the child protection register, authorities suggesting he was no longer believed to be at risk of significant harm.
20th July 2021, Logan tested positive for Covid-19 and was shut in his bedroom for 10 days with a baby gate stopping him from leaving. The adults in the house even made him face the wall in the corner of the room when they brought him food.
A social worker visited the house on this day, due to COVID restrictions they did not enter the house, the social worker never saw Logan as Angharad told her he was isolating in his bedroom.
25th July 2021, Cole's step-son 14-year-old teenager Craig Mulligan, moved into the family home in Sarn, Bridgend, Wales.
Saturday 31st July 2021, being as all three blamed each other it is impossible to know the eaxact way Logan died, and who is truely top blame.
02:43am CCTV from nearby houses showed John Cole and Craig Mulligan moving Logan's body to the nearby river where they dumped it. CCTV also showed the lights going on and off in Logan's room and the curtains being opened by Williamson, she would later claim she was asleep all night. However forensic evidence showed she had used her phone at the time to watch videos on YouTube.
05:44am, Williamson made a 999 call to police to report Logan missing. Police arrived and started to search for the missing boy. When police arrived the washing machine was on and running. When forensics, later tested the bed sheet and pillowcase from Logan's bed, both were shown to have samples of his blood on them.
Police found Logan partially submerged in the river Ogmore in Pandy Park, just over 250m from his home - he was wearing his dinosaur pyjama bottoms and a Spider-Man top. Logan had suffered massive injuries.
A post-mortum revealed that the youngster had received 56 separate injuries, including extensive bruising to the back of his head, as well as tears in his liver and bowel, which experts said were so severe, that they were consistent with those seen in road traffic accidents. It is believed that had an ambulance been called at the first injury, Logan may have survived, however it appears Logan suffered a sustained attack over many hours.
Sunday 1st August 2021, just 50-hours after the 999 cal all three are arrested and taken into custody. During questioning all three changed their stories many times.
4th August 2021, John Cole is charged with murder, Angharad Williamson is charged with perverting the course of justice.
21st October 2021, after further investigations Angharad William son has murder added to the charge of perverting the course of justice.
March 2021, trial starts at Cardiff Crown court.
21st April 2022, at Cardiff Crown Court, the jury of seven women and five men took just five hours to reach their verdicts after a trial lasting eight weeks.
Angharad is found guilty of murder, and guilty of perverting the course of justice. John Cole is also found guilty of murder as well as perverting the course of justice. Craig Mulligan is also found guilty of murder and perverting the course of justice. Sentencing was delayed to allow for reports.
