25th June 2006, 29-year-old sex worker, Lynne Barwick's naked body was found by a passing cyclist, leaning up against a tree in a roadside ditch, on the banks of the Humber river in Hull, she had been strangled.
Saturday 2nd July 2006 Akester appeared before Hull magistrates charged with the murder of Lynn Barwick. He was held in custody, due to appear again on 10th July.
4th July 2007, At the trial it emerged that Akester actually killed Lynn at his home in Estcourt Street in Hull, he moved the body using a van stolen from his work. It also emerged that he also had a previous conviction for attempting to strangle a prostitute in 2000.
Akester was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a recommendation he serve a minimum of thirty years,
