Jealous and possessive, Mehmood and his girlfriend Lucy were known to argue a lot.
5th August 2000, After thier latest row, Mehmood poured petrol in the living room and kitchen, and set fire to the house while the rest of the family were asleep upstairs.
He later claimed we was awoken by the smoker alarm going off, he climbed out of a rear window.
CCTV from a nearby petrol station near the house showed Mehmood's black cab on the forecourt at 3:20am.
Timings from the emergency services showed that a neighbour, who called the fire brigade at 3:30am saw Mehmood standing outside the blazing house.
Thursday 128th October 2001, A jury at Stafford Crown Court took three-and-a-half hours to find Azhar Ali Mehmood, guilty of the murders of his girlfriend Lucy Lowe, her sister Sarah Lowe, and their mother Eileen Lowe.
Mehmood's baby daughter Tazneem was inside at the time of the fire, but was rescued
Mehmood was also convicted of the attempted murder of George Lowe, the teenagers' father, who escaped the fire by climbing out a bedroom window, but was unable to save his family.
