Saturday 17th May 2008, Khyra Ishaq weighed just 2st 9lb (16.5kg) when paramedics found her emaciated and barely alive at her home in Handsworth, Birmingham. She died later in hospital.
Monday 18th May 2008, The girls mother Angela Gordon and her partner Abuhamza appear at Birmingham Magistrates' Court to face charges of neglect. They are remanded in custody.
Thursday 28th May 2008, Gordon and Abuhamza appear in court via video link accused of causing or allowing Khyra's death
13th August 2008, The CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) charges the pair with Khyra's murder.
Thursday 5th June 2009,The first trial for Gordon and Abuhamza begins at Birmingham Crown Court. Jurors are told that UK doctors had rarely seen such a severe case of malnutrition.
Sunday 29th June 2009, The trial is halted after three jury members were discharged for personal reasons.
Tuesday 19th January 2010, Trial starts at Birmingham crown court.
The jury, which was informed that the case was a retrial, was been told that Mr Abuhamza, also of Leyton Road, had pleaded guilty to five counts of cruelty.
Jurors also heard that five other children, who were also in the defendants' care, were "similarly starved" and assaulted.
Thursday 25th February 2010, Angela Gordon was cleared of murder but was found guilty of manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility. She admitted five counts of child cruelty at Birmingham Crown Court.
Her partner Junaid Abuhamza, had already admitted the girl's manslaughter.
27th November 2017, reported in the UK press that Angela Gordon has been released.
