22nd May 2013, Fusilier
lee Rigby, was off duty, he was walking along Wellington
street near to the Woolwich barracks when Michael
Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, ran at him with a car,
knocking him down. They then got out of the cat and
viciously attacked him with knives and a meat cleaver.
They then dragged him into the
middle of the road, staying with the dead soldier until
police arrived. They told horrified passers-by that they had
killed a British soldier as revenge for the killing of
Muslims by British soldiers.
Police arrived and set up a
cordon, when an armed response unit arrived the men charged
at police, who fired shots at both men injuring them, they
were then taken to hospital under police guard.
29th November 2013, Trial
begins at the Old Bailey.
19th December 2013, Both
men were found guilty of the murder of Lee Rigby.
26th February 2013, Both
men sentenced to life imprisonment, with Adebolajo given a
whole life tariff and Adebowale
ordered to serve at least 45 years.
8th April 2014, Adebalajo
launched an appal against his whole life term.
29th July 2014, The
appeal was refused.
