Allen stabbed a man 4 times during a burglary.
2004,
Allen was sentenced to eight years in prison at
Southampton Crown Court. He admitted burglary and the
aggravated taking and driving away of a Vauxhall Astra.
He also pleaded guilty to wounding retired electrician
Mr Brian Butt, with intent to cause grievous bodily
harm.
James Allen
was on bail at the time of the murders, having been
committed to crown court for a sexual offence and
assault.
Monday 23rd
April 2012, Mr Dunford was found dead at his terrace
house in Leven Street, Middlesbrough.
He suffered
head injuries during an assault, according to a
post-mortem examination.
Wednesday
25th April 2012, Ms Davison was discovered by her
sister when she visited her rented flat in Church
Square, Whitby. She had also suffered serious head
injuries.
Thursday 26th
April 2012, Police linked the two deaths, and three
forces joined in the hunt for Allen, with more than 100
detectives working on the case.
Sunday 29th
April 2012, Allen spotted by an off duty police
officer in Leeds. Police swoop and arrest Allen on
suspicion of murder.
Wednesday
2nd May 2012, Allen appeared at Teesside
Magistrates’ Court, and was charged with two counts of
murder, rape, false imprisonment, assault and witness
intimidation.
He showed his
middle finger to the magistrates as he was led away by
two security guards.
