29th March 2008, Jolanta
was murdered at her flat in Arbroath
Jolanta's head was found on the beach at Arbroath on 1st
April 2008 by two sisters, aged eight and 11, who had been
playing on the beach.. Police searching the sands found her
hands later that same day. Four days later, a suitcase
containing Jolanta's body was pulled from Arbroath harbor by
a police underwater search team. Jolanta was murdered at the
flat she shared with fellow Lithuanian Skirda in Brechin.
Accomplice Aleksandras Skirda admitted his part in the
murder.
4th March 2009, Plytnykas was found guilty of murder, he had
denied the charge.
During the trial, the jury was shown CCTV footage of
Plytnykas and Skirda on a bus to Arbroath carrying a plastic
bag which had Ms Bledaite's head and hands inside.
Plytnykas, who is believed to be a former soldier, already
has a conviction for manslaughter. He was jailed in 2001 in
Germany after stabbing a man to death in a fight about
money.
6th March 2009, Both men have been jailed, Plytnykas
for 28 years, and Skirda for 20 years, both men will be
deported at the end of their sentences.
