Louis Massey and his
wife Margaret Hird, had separated but he kept asking
for her to take him back, a request which she refused to
consider.
She moved in with her
sister and on 4th November Massey called at the house. He
pleaded with her to try again but she again refused so,
out of frustration he began to beat her. Hearing the noise
her sister ran to help her but he struck her as well. He
did not stop his vicious attack of his wife until she lay
dead at his feet.
19th
December 1919, Louis Massey was convicted at Leeds
Assizes of the
murder of his wife on 4th November 1919.
6th
January 1920, Louis Massey was hanged at Leeds
prison.
