Kristy Bamu, his family originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, but now living in Paris, France, went to stay with his sister Magalie, in London over the holiday period.

Kristy's sister, Magalie Bamu and her boyfriend Eric Bikubi, believed that Kristy was possessed, and over 4 days tortured him to remove the evil spirits. This they did using household tools such as  hammer, pliers, a metal pole and planks of wood.

They also beat and tortured  Kristy’s sister Kelly, 20, and an 11 year old sister, who cannot be named, after accusing them both of sorcery.

 

25th December 2010, Kristy Bamu was drowned in the bath following torture that was allegedly an exorcism. Kristy suffered more than 100 separate injuries

 

15th May 2011, Eric Bikubi & Magalie Bamu appeared at the Old Bailey in London charged with the murder of Miss Banu's 15 year old brother, Kristy, they both denied murder.

 

Thursday 1st March 2012, Both are found guilty of murder, Bikubi had admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, but the prosecution rejected his plea.

 

The Metropolitan Police confirmed it had investigated 83 “faith-based” child abuse cases involving witchcraft in the last ten years.

 

Monday 5th March 2012, The pair were sentenced at The old Bailey in London.

Eric Bikubi was sentenced to a minimum of 30 years, and Magalie Bamu must serve 25 years.

During the sentencing, Judge David Paget said the murder had a "sadistic element", further adding it was "prolonged torture involving mental and physical suffering being inflicted before death".
