Monday 7th August 2011, It was the night that London was gripped with riots, 68 year old Richard Bowes was attempting to stamp out a fire that had been started in Spring Bridge Road in Ealing, west London, when 17 year old Darrell Desuze landed a single punch to his head.
Mr Mannington Bowes fell to the ground hitting his head so hard on the pavement that it caused brain damage.
He was taken to hospital but died of the catastrophic brain injuries 3 days later.
Desuze was seen on CCTV stealing and looting in local shops, and was also seen delivering the fatal punch. Police were initially unable to get to Me Bowes because of the disturbances.

Monday 12th March 2012, At Inner London Crown Court, Newington Causeway, London, 17 year old Darrell Desuze pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
His defence Piers Von Berg, said Desuze, "sincerely regrets and has remorse for all his actions, in particular his actions that led to the death of Mr Bowes".

Wednesday 21st March 2012, Desuze's mother, Lavinia Desuze, was found guilty of perverting the course of justice by destroying the clothes her son was wearing on the night of the killing.

Tuesday 17th April 2012, Darrell Desuze sentenced to 8 years in prism for the manslaughter of Richard Mannington Bowes.
Lavinia Desuze was jailed for 18 months for perverting the course of justice.
